Inspirations: Mark Manson, Ravy Mehroke & Tobi Reyes

“Most of us have no clue what we want to do with our lives. Even after we finish school. Even after we get a job. Even after we’re making money.” — Mark Manson

I visited Mark’s website by pure accident but really liked what I found — something that I can relate to: being in mid-20s still navigating through life as to what I really want to do. Click Here to find out what I read. Otherwise, click on the quote at the beginning of the post to learn more about Mark.

I’ve always liked self-help and anything motivational, impactful and inspirational. But Mark’s site stands out: I like how it’s not pretentious. What he is doing with his business is somewhat similar to what I’ve aimed with my book but I’m focussing a totally different target market.  As I looked around his site, I realise he wrote a book on Models: Attract Women through Honesty. I like the title. I guess I’ll go  through his articles when I have time this week.

“A lot of people think we’ve had success from the beginning, but Amy and I worked on a business plan for a year before we even opened our doors. I spent one year on it, I spent a ton of money on it … I was really scared that no one would care.” — RavyMehroke, Bombay Brow Bar

Ravy Mehroke and her sister, Amy Minhas, started Bombay Brow Bar in 2010; the business now has three locations in downtown Vancouver.  I love how her story reminds me that valuable things in life take some time, effort and patience. “I thought of real estate as a defensive action, not for a career, not for a business. It was something to place the money in and see what happens.” — Tobi Reyes

Tobi Reyes is the owner and CEO of Port Capital Development Inc. He started out his real estate career when he was 27 – again something I can relate myself to. Starting from a 10,000-square-foot warehouse in Vancouver, now his company is almost finishing up with South Creek Landing, a mixed-use development at the south foot of the Cambie Street Bridge overlooking False Creek. It is also about to start other construction projects.
